Where does the soul come from?
What is the source of our consciousness?
This is an easy question for a Christian to answer.
Our consciousness comes from God.
But for those who don’t believe in God they must ask, “Why are we not all Zombies, simply empty shells without a soul”?
Christianity theology teaches us that God exists in three persons. We refer to this as the Holy Trinity. He is God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He is one entity consisting of three persons. Because man is created in God’s image, he too was created a trinity. Man has a body, a soul and a spirit. Man’s body is that part which we can all see. It is the physical part of man and he shares this trait with animals. Man also has a soul. The soul is that part of man that reveals to him his identity. He knows who he is and therefore he fulfils the role of man. One might argue that animals also have souls for they have a sense of identity. Jesus said, “The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests.” They know who they are and they function as animals in the realm of God’s creation.
Some say God does not exist and when you die that is the end of your existence so you may do anything you want to in life without any pangs of conscience or repentance because there is no moral responsibility to anyone or anything except the laws of the state and country.
So what happens after you have lived your way? You die when your time comes just like the bible reports and will face God regarding how you lived in the earth. When you stand before God, the sex, the money, the power will seem worthless then and regrets will not be few as they may have been during your lifetime. You will regret every infraction of God’s law because of the judgment and punishment for said infractions.
Not only does God exist but he requires that we live his way or suffer tremendous consequences for it. Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 tell us, “Fear God and keep his commandment: for this is the whole duty of man for God will bring every work into judgment with every secret thing whether it be good or evil.”
THE CHOICE IS YOURS.
